Description
The Taishan Antineutrino Observatory (JUNO-TAO) is a satellite experiment of the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO). The main purpose of TAO experiment is to provide a precise reference spectrum for JUNO and benchmark measurement for nuclear database. TAO detector consists of a Central Detector (CD), an outer shielding and veto system. The CD will be placed at ∼30 m from a core of the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant. The outer shielding includes 1.2 m thick water in the surrounding tanks, ~1 m High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) on the top, and 10 cm lead at the bottom. The Plastic Scintillator (PS) on the top comprises of a part of the active muon veto system. In this poster, the proposed layout of four layers PS is presented. A detailed study and final design of the WLS+SiPM PS strip will be presented further based on an optical performance simulated using Geant4. The muon tagging efficiency against threshold of p.e. and rock radioactivity will be included.
