Mössbauer studies and inductive thermal properties of Mgx-doped Mahemite nanoparticles 20m

Magnetic nanoparticles-based hyperthermia has remarkable potential for cancer treatment. In particular, maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) is a technologically important compound because of its nontoxicity and thermal and chemical stability. We focused on magnetic induction heating research by controlling the content of Mg-ions occupying Fe vacancies inside the octahedral site of maghemite as Mg2+ cations are considered as factors that can improve biocompatibility in terms of bio-application. For hyperthermia applications, we treated nanoparticles with plasma to maximize the results of the induction heating experiment. We also discuss the magnetic induction heating in AC magnetic fields and Mössbauer studies of the Mgx-doped γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles.

History of Single-crystal Growth in Korea 20m

Single crystal growth is an indispensible step for condensed matter physics research and modern industry. In this article, I reviewed the history of single-crystal growth in Korea from the publications from the Korean Physical Society. We focused on the early stage of the history to understand how the researchers settled down, overcome their hurdles, and enhanced the quality of their single crystals.

Quantum Networking and High Energy Physics 20m

The first quantum key distribution network in the U.S. was the result of a collaboration between NIST, industry, and academic researchers circa 2000. In the past five years, through the U.S. national quantum initiative and our quantum internet blueprint, the Dept. of Energy and other federal agencies have promoted research on advanced quantum networks for scientific research in high energy physics and beyond. I will discuss recent and upcoming results from our quantum teleportation network testbeds, and  prospects for the future.

        TEST 5m

Various carbon-material applications require different carbon-material structures and characteristics. Thus, mass synthesis technology must be secured for these applications. In previous studies, Ni–graphite core–shell nanoparticles (CSNPs) comprising Ni nanoparticles wrapped in several graphene layers were synthesized via the thermal reduction of NiO nanoparticles using H2 in a horizontal thermochemical vapor-deposition (TCVD) system.
